There are several hilarious books on the market today by comedic women which you may enjoy. As they say, laughter is the best medicine for pretty much any situation you may find yourself in. Here are a few books that are sure to lift your spirits through shear hilarity.

Bossypants by Tina Fey

Most people know comedian Tina Fey from her days on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock. She also stars in a few different movies including Baby Mama, Date Night, and Mean Girls. In 2001, Fey released her first autobiographical comedy book, Bossypants. This book was on The New York Times Best Seller list for several weeks and has done very well since then in terms of sales.

In this book, Fey tells her life story through humorous anecdotes. Beginning with her childhood, Fey describes what her life was like leading up to her ultimate fame in comedic television and her role as a mother to her daughter. If you love Tina Fey’s humor, this is definitely one book you will not want to put down.

Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler

Comedian Chelsea Handler currently hosts a late-night talk show on E! called Chelsea Lately. Besides her show, Handler is also an actress, writer, and producer. So far she has written and published four books which have all made it onto the New York Times Best Seller list.

In 2008, Chelsea Handler released a collection of essays in her book Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea. Most of the essays are autobiographical about her life. This hilarious collection is a must-read for anyone who just needs a good laugh.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling is best known for her role as Kelly Kapoor in The Office and her star role as Mindy Lahiri in The Mindy Project. She has written and produced several episodes and is the voice of Taffyta Muttonfudge in the animated film Wreck-It Ralph.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? is Kaling’s first book and was published in 2011. It is a collection of essays which are mainly about her life and career. She also includes short observational essays about her family, friends, and relationships. If you enjoy Mindy Kaling in her television roles, you’ll love what she has to say in this comedic book.

Seriously…I’m Kidding by Ellen DeGeneresellen book

American stand-up comedian Ellen DeGeneres is the host of her own show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She has been doing comedy since the early 1980s and is the voice of Dory in the animated film, Finding Nemo (2003). DeGeneres has won several awards from the Emmys as well as American Comedy awards, a Saturn award, a Teen Choice award, and many others.

DeGeneres has published three books so far. Her latest one came out in 2011 titled Seriously…I’m Kidding. This hilarious book talks about her life over the last few years with many jokes and random observations. If you want to read something that is happy and carefree, this is the book for you.

Check your local bookshop or online book retailer for these four hilarious women, you are bound to find a new favorite book.     I would love to read Ellen’s book for sure i think she is funny and a great person.I do not have much time for books at the moment but it would be nice to just be able to sit chill and read at some point.

  3. I have never read a book that was funny before, I normally stick to mystery or romance. I think I am missing something as these sound great and who could not use a good laugh.

    I was just looking at my huge stack of reading books today and I couldn’t find anything I wanted to read. I need to stop reading all the murder mystries and lighten up a little bit.

      Absolutely! I love that type of book, too…but I also love funny! These are all great– and I love George Carlin books and Drew Carey too.

    I have read Chelsea Handler’s book and Tina Fey’s. They are both hilarious, strong women. Lately, I have read several books by Jen Lancaster.

      Chelsea Handler is such a hoot…a little irreverent, but oh so funny! And I LOVE her take on the Judy Blume “ARe you there God, it’s me Margaret?” title.

  20. I’ve been wanting to read Tina Fey’s book but several of the others look good as well. The Diary of Anne Frank has always been one of my favorites.

    These like great books to read, but I honestly never read books by celebrities. I just find that their lives aren’t ones that I choose to emulate or be influenced by. I’m sure they are all funny though

      I had read a couple of others previously– George Carlin and Drew Carey (fellow Cleveland native!) and they were both so funny. Neither was really about their life, really just funny stuff and had him laughing on the couch.

    Diary of a Young Girl was a very good book. May have to look into the Ellen book. I love her out look on life.
